Originally from Laguna Beach, CA, Trey Alexander is a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist based in Miami, FL (studying Music Industry B.A. at the University of Miami). Trey began producing music in 2019 after years of writing lyrics and poetry, coming out with his 5-song debut EP, "I'm the Moon". Since then, Trey Alexander has released 6 singles with plans to release a debut full-length album in early 2024. Trey Alexander's sound cannot be restricted to one genre. With influences spanning across vastly different types of music, Trey's work beautifully blends elements of indie and alternative rock, psychedelia, ambient, and even jazz to bring an intriguing and new sound to the independent rock scene. Ever since his first releases, all music released by Trey Alexander is self-produced and self-managed. What is now a full-fledged home studio began with Trey experimenting at a desk in his basement with GarageBand and a guitar. Trey Alexander has honed his skills in music production over years of experience with recording and mixing his own music, now preferring Logic Pro X as his DAW of choice.
Trey holds a deep passion for music that began at a very early age. Before he could even speak, Trey frequented his (lifelong keyboardist and now-frontman of yacht rock cover band, Yachty by Nature) uncle's performances. He could often be seen busting a move on the dance floor at a mere 2 years old while his uncle's former cover band, Neon Nation, jammed onstage. Growing up in a household constantly graced by the music of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Police, Bauhaus, and The Eagles, Trey Alexander embraces the "old-soul" mentality with an appreciation for the early days of classic rock. So much so that his first musical passion project was teaching himself what he deemed to be the "Greatest Solos of Rock and Roll" on saxophone (his first instrument). Trey had learned, solely by ear, Jimmy Page's solo on Stairway to Heaven, Don Henley and Joe Walsh's shared solo on Hotel California by the Eagles, and Santana's Europa by the end of the 5th grade. This project likely would have continued, had he not fell in love with a new instrument: theguitar.
Since the age of 9, Trey has pursued his love of music through learning various instruments (including bass, drum set, piano, tuba, ukulele, and the saxophone). However, his deepest affinity is held by the guitar. Today, Trey Alexander's sound can be heavily characterized by his use of both the acoustic and electric guitar. The riffs of Trey Alexander's music range from the beautiful, chorus-soaked arpeggios of Spend My Life, to hard-driving chords found in Fall, Fire, Fall and Rhyme and Reason, to even the bluesy yet simple walking lines of Groove Interlude. His vast range in songwriting is evident with the breadth of different musical atmospheres that span his discography. Having spent much of 2023 recording, producing, and mixing a plethora of songs, Trey Alexander has plans to release an album in 2024 following his timeline of single releases. Thus far, Trey has released 5 singles that will likely find their way onto the album. Two of which were released back in 2022: Fall, Fire, Fall and Hold You Another Night. The latter three were released at the end of 2023: Rhyme and Reason, Spend My Life, and Coming to an End.
